Welcome to Hedgehog Class

We are a class of Reception children.
Our teacher is Mrs. Rudiger and our teaching assistant is Mrs Wheeler.

Please ensure you read the school newsletters sent via ParentMail for upcoming dates and key information.

You will find  a timetable below to see what we learn and when each week but the information here will help you equip your child for each days activities:

During the autumn term, we have plenty opportunities for outdoor learning and play.
Your child needs a
NAMED coat everyday; ideally both warm and waterproof.
Shoes should be safe and suitable for active play. Please bear in mind your child may change into wellies during the day so should be able to manage their own footwear (velcro preferred to laces!)

PE is on a Thursday afternoon.
Please ensure your children come to school dressed in PE kit.
Tracksuit trousers and a warm sweatshirt or hoodie with trainers are recommended, with a named waterbottle.  These should reflect school uniform and food/drink guidelines please.

Forest school will be on a Friday Morning.
All children need a Forest School kit in school so that they can keep dry and comfortable for outdoor learning activities on any day though.  On Fridays wear comfortable clothing to school.
This must include fully waterproof thick coat and over-trousers, wellies and spare socks. As the weather gets colder please add a warm hat and warm, waterproof gloves.

Your child also needs to have a change of clothes in school. This is in case they  get wet, muddy or have a toiletting accident.

Your child will have a reading book that will be changed twice a week although their book bag with reading book and diary should be brought in everyday.

You can find out about what we are learning each week by looking at the updates on this page (see right) and logging in to see the photos and observations of our group and individual learning on the Seesaw app.

Below is the long term overview for Hedgehog class, and a summary of what is planned for Spring Term. Have a look to see what we will be learning.
Hedgehog Class Updates
including Home Learning
The link below will lead to videos which show you how to pronounce Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds. It also contains information about the sounds we will be learning this half term. There are also links to documents containing the tricky words for Reception children.
For September and October, the focus for Hedgehog Reception children is settling in to the new routines, relationships and expectations of school.  Families can log on to the SeeSaw Learning platform to see updates of the children's learning every week.  This will include Phonics initial sounds and Maths activities to talk about.  We encourage you to start good reading habits by sharing the picture books we send home at least 3 times a week.  After half term there will be an update sheet to read weekly too.
