Attendance

The Department for Education (DfE) states that parents/carers have a responsibility to ensure their child attends school every day that the school is open- except when a statutory reason applies.

Under legislation effective from 1st September 2013, Headteachers may no longer authorise absence for leave during term time. Authorised leave may only be granted at the discretion of the Headteacher where there are exceptional circumstances. An application for leave of absence must be completed a dull calendar month in advance, using the school form located on the attendance page of the school website.  The form is also available from the school office .

A meeting with the Headteacher must be arranged at least four weeks before the proposed date of travel wherever possible. We strongly recommend that parents contact school to discuss the potential issues, before booking any holiday to be taken during term time.

Any period of leave taken without the agreement of the school, or in excess of that agreed, will be classed as unauthorised and may incur sanctions such as a Fixed Penalty Notice (£60 per child, per parent). In the event of any child being unauthorised absent for 5days, 10 sessions of school, the matter will be referred to the Buckinghamshire Council Attendance team in order for them to consider appropriate action.

We thank you for your support in ensuring your child attends school daily and arrives on time for the start of the school day.
