Forest School news

Alongside our usual self directed activities of exploring, mini-beast hunting, den building, digging, climbing, swinging and cooking up marvellous (plant based) meals in the mud kitchen, we also took some time to learn about the species of birds which call our school site home.

We used binoculars and identification sheets to find some, and an app on Mr Mud’s iPad called “Merlín” to identify birds by their songs. (I highly recommend this app to schools and parents).

To help our feathered friends along we also installed 3 bird boxes and left lots of bird seed around for them to find.

Some of us also worked as a team to move some big heavy items so that we could use them for our construction projects in the future.
